Message from the Head of School and the Chair, Board of Governors
Story appeared in the 2017 issue of QMS Connections Magazine.
BY WILMA JAMIESON, HEAD OF SCHOOL; MARY DELURY, CHAIR, QMS BOARD OF GOVERNORS
At Queen Margaret’s School, we have sought out and created “Harmony” for ourselves. The energy derived from creative and engaged work, discovery and exploration, as well as giving back, brings out the best in our students, staff, alumni, parents and all members of our community.
We are in the upward swing of the change cycle started in 2014 with the launch of our renewed strategic plan. We have embraced informed strategy and clear direction to affect meaningful progress through investment in people, programs and our campus.
Elements of our strategic plan speak volumes about who we are as a community of learners. We are
• innovative and offer unique programming options,
• a globally minded inclusive community,
• cultivating lifelong long relationships,
• engaged in environmental stewardship,
• empowering our students to lead and serve.
These pillars of our school are timeless and were as important to our Founders, Miss Denny and Miss Geoghegan, as they are to us now.
This edition of Connections Magazine celebrates so much that is familiar, whether it be the harmony that we find within our current programs, the harmony that our alumni have found while following their passions, or the harmony that was sought by our Founders which continues to connect us today.
Our ability to be adaptive, dynamic and inspiring creates a culture that prepares our students to thrive in an increasingly blended and interconnected society, and is how we, as Head of School and Chair of the Board of Governors foster the mindset of harmony. The globally minded community of QMS enhances the ability of our students to lead and serve; it sparks wonder about one another and develops an appreciation for other cultures, languages and perspectives as we strive towards common goals.
Our story continues to unfold and there is so much more to come for QMS. We are excited to celebrate and share this with you. As we move toward our centenary in 2021, we encourage you to come and visit and connect with us as we continue on this journey together to become accomplished lifelong learners making positive impacts in the world.
